Lalith Gamage Professor B.Sc. Engrg (Moratuwa), M.Sc. (Leics), PhD (UBC), MBCS, CITP, MIEEE |

Dr. Lalith Gamage is a Professor and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, the largest Technology institute in Sri Lanka. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of British Columbia and is attached to the Industrial Automation Group. He is also an Adjunct Professor of the Curtin University of Australia. Dr Gamage has served as a Senior Lecturer and the Director of the Computing Services Centre of the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He currently serves as a Council Member of the University of Moratuwa. Dr Gamage's research interests include Computer Vision, Computational Intelligence and Robotics. He has published numerous research papers and has been an invited speaker at many international conferences and forums. He has also won a prestigious Japanese Space Agency research award. He has served the IT industry and the Government of Sri Lanka in various capacities. These include the Chairman of the ICT Cluster of the USAID sponsored competitiveness initiative, the Executive Director of Trade Information Network, Sri Lanka Export Development Board, and Chairman of the IT Task Force, Ministry of Enterprise Development, Industrial Policy, and Investment Promotion. Dr. Gamage is a recipient of the prestigious ²The Outstanding Young Person² award in 2000 for his contribution towards academic development. |
