About UBC ASRC
| The main focus of the Applied Science Research Centre (ASRC) is to encourage, promote and facilitate collaborative research between the Industrial Automation Laboratory (IAL) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and other labs and research centres in Canada and elsewhere. The Centre has been established for research collaboration through the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair Professorship in Mechatronics and Industrial Automation held by Prof. Clarence de Silva. At present research collaborations exist with National University of Singapore (NUS), National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Pennsylvania State University, USA, and Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). Collaborative activities include research and development, technology transfer, and training of highly qualified personnel. Seminars, workshops, symposia, outreach and exchange programs and other activities of knowledge dissemination are also undertaken. The Centre was founded at UBC through the support and core funding from the former Dean Michael Isaacson of the faculty of Applied Science. | ![]() |
