Curriculum

The curriculum you follow is based on what is listed in the Calendar for your first year in the Mech department, and for the two subsequent years. For example, if you took Mech 2 in 2008, you would use the second year curriculum from the 2008 calendar, the third year curriculum from the 2009 calendar, and the fourth year curriculum from the 2010 calendar.

Core Mechatronics courses, including project courses, cannot be substituted by other courses given at UBC or elsewhere.

Note: Due to limitations in course availability, all Option students are required to take their academic terms as per the normal Co-op schedule, regardless of their Co-op status.  It will therefore take students a minimum of three years (after first year and Mech 2) to complete this program.

The normal Co-op order is:

Term One Term Two Summer
Year 3 Co-op Academic Co-op
Year 3.5 Academic Co-op Co-op
Year 4 Academic Academic

Curriculum information for the M.Eng. program can be found here.

A sample list of the general mechanical curriculum is below. Please note that the Department evaluates its programs and courses on an ongoing basis, so the curriculum is subject to change.

This curriculum list is unofficial. The official curriculum for a cohort is determined by taking the appropriate UBC Calendar curriculum listing for four sequential years, beginning in the year a student starts the program. Current students with questions about their curriculum should check Vista or consult an advisor.
