Computer and Network Support
Please note that all of the internal department support pages below are posted on the Campus Learning Management system called VISTA ( http://www.vista.ubc.ca ) in our MECH Workshop pages. These pages include information about:
- Computer support
- Safety
- Machine Shop
- Instrumentation and Electronics Shop
- Graduate thesis guidelines, Awards and Financial Support, Graduate etc.
- Undergraduate opportunities, surveys, teams information, registration guidelines, etc.
Please refer to these pages before contacting staff for information about department services, support and procedures. Many of the forms and guidelines you need are posted there.
How do I access these pages?
To access VISTA requires campus wide login (CWL) and VISTA access available to all faculty, staff and students. To obtain a CWL please visit http://www.it.ubc.ca/cwl/homelink.shtml .
Once you have a CWL you can access internal department support information from www.vista.ubc.ca
All Undergraduate/Graduate students should automatically be enrolled in the Mech Undergraduate/Graduate student Workshops and the Safety & Support Workshop. Visitors and others (and those who have not yet been enrolled) should follow the instructions below to join our Workshops (Note: you must have a CWL to enroll in the Workshop).

Go to https://www.ctc2.elearning.ubc.ca/VistaSelfEnroll/CourseList . Either search for “Mech” or click View All.

Select one or all of the following internal support workshops:
MECH Workshops - MECH Graduate Information - Self- Enroll (internal information for current graduate students)
MECH Workshops - MECH Workshops; Safety and Support (internal computer and safety information for all department members)
MECH Workshops - MECH Undergraduate Information (internal information for undergraduate students - Note: Contact undergrad@mech.ubc.ca for password)

Click the CWL button and enter the CWL you wish to use to access the “course”.

Enter your email address for confirmation.

Done! You can access the departmental support information through www.vista.ubc.ca or through the Quicklinks on the Mech webpage.
