Our Research
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is home to a successful and recognized research department, with numerous connections to international industry. There are over 200 graduate students and about 30 undergraduates working in research labs here, and most of our faculty members hold multiple NSERC, CIHR , and CFI grants and contracts. Research in the department is funded by over $3.5 million a year in funding from industry, which is raised by about 28 of our faculty members alone.
The Department achieved the highest level of NSERC Discovery Program funding per research faculty member among Mechanical Engineering departments in Canada in 2006/07, and the second highest overall in NSERC grants.
